Het Gilgamesj-epos (The Epic Of Gilgamesh) is heldendicht uit Sumer van ca. 2100 voor Christus, betrekkende Gilgamesj de koning van Oeroek/Uruk. De tekst (gehouwen in steen) werd midden 19e eeuw gevonden in de ruïne van de grote bibliotheek van Ninevé.
